In Response to Covid-19

Good afternoon,

As we begin to navigate a careful re-opening of our economy through Phase 2 of BC's Restart Plan, we are committed to keeping the safety of our staff and clients our top priority.

If you are thinking about or have already opened up your offices, we want to address any questions or concerns you may have to ensure your re-open is as smooth and safe as possible. Please find a list of commonly asked questions below.

What can you expect from Growing City?

Since the beginning of this pandemic and as we transition into the re-opening of our economy, we continue to follow all recommended safety practices from the BC CDC and WorkSafe BC. All of our drivers are provided each morning with extra cleaning and personal protective equipment and our trucks are disinfected daily after each run. To minimize potential exposure, we have asked our drivers to touch only our bins for service and no surrounding materials and to maintain at least 2 metres (6 feet) distance from any members of the public, inducing your staff and residents on site.

What can we expect from you?

As many of us transition into a return-to-work program, we want to work with you to outline a program that works for you. We ask that you please keep us updated of any new changes, including:

  • On-site contact information (name and phone number)
  • Changes in operating hours (including reduced hours and service days)
  • Updated access procedures (ex: signing in, being escorted to bins, sanitizing hands before entering, etc.)

Client FAQs:

1. We are thinking of re-opening our offices. When should we let you know?

This is great! We ask that you please provide at least 7-days notice for resuming services.

2. Will your drivers be wearing a mask and gloves?

Yes, all of our drivers are provided and required to wear a mask and gloves when entering any office or enclosed space.

3. Can I get other services with my current services?

Absolutely! Our services include more than just organics :) We can adjust and consolidate all of your recycling services to include waste, mixed papers & cardboard, mixed containers, soft plastics, e-waste, styrofoam, and more.

4. We have a lot of material that has accumulated over this time. Can I request a one-time pickup of assorted material? If so, how do I do this?

Yes, should you require any additional services or on-call services, we can assist with garbage collection, mixed papers/cardboard, mixed containers, e-waste, styrofoam, or overall junk removal - simply, email us at Hello@GrowingCity.com or call us at 604-428-8424 and we can provide a one-time collection and fee.

5. We are a residential property and our bins are overflowing as more people work from home. How do I request an additional bin(s)?

We understand that more material is inevitably being produced during this time and are asking all of our clients to please let our team know ASAP if you require temporary additional bin(s). We will drop off additional within 2-3 business days and can provide additional emergency collections, if needed.

Electronic Payment Request

In our ongoing commitment to becoming paperless, we are asking for your support to move from cheques to electronic forms of payment, if you have not done so already. Please use our secure EFT link to get started!

We are dedicated to our reliable and flexible service, while maintaining the safety of our clients and our community. If you have any other questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

We look forward to working with you again as we move our economy forward!

All the best,

The GC Team
